Cassie delicately picked her way across the ruins, stepping only on the tired ground until she reached her clearing. Since no one had ever come to the ruins, Cassie had made it like her second home, a place to escape. Leaning against a ruin, she slid her way down until she was sitting on the ground. Closing her eyes, she listened to the soft wind and it's murmurs as her fingers picked into the ground, scratching at the cold surface. As she picked away, she hummed the tune of a song that Chris used to sing to her whenever she had nightmares as a child and her parents locked her out of their room. A faint smiled flickered on her face as she remembered her violent sobs queiting, then fading completely as she laid in her brother's arms, trying to expel the terrifying thoughts and images from her head.
Cassie reached up and touched her face as a single tear escaped from her dampened eyes. Nowadays memories of Chris made her more emotional than usual. She sniffed and rubbed her eyes, searching for her stash she had hidden under a crevice in the ruins weeks ago. She pulled out a small worn baggie and carefully scruntinized the contents. Sighing with frustration, she pulled out one little blue pill and popped it in her mouth and threw the baggie away. How many memories am I going to have to endure? she thought to herself. Frustrated, she put her hands to her face and curled into a ball. Broken sobs escaped into the air as her body shook with sadness.
She couldn't handle it anymore. The loneliness was finally getting to her, surprising her like a theif in the night. She couldn't escape it, it was always there, haunting her peace and solace. Even the drugs couldn't put her at ease anymore.
Cassie felt her mind going numb. She rested her head against the ruin she was leaning against and opened her eyes to watch the blurry sky above. Hot tears ran down her cheeks and pooled at the base of her neck. She didn't even bother to wipe them away, she was so transfixed with the sky. The clouds became hypnotic and she was in a trance. A wide grin broke across her face as she stared at the sky. Slowly, she rose to her feet, still keeping her eyes on the dancing clouds. Around and around she began to twirl, still transfixed on the clouds, now performing a spinning ballet for her. Her white dress fluttered in the wind as she sped up faster and faster. Laughter escaped her smiling lips as she lifted her arms into the air as if to praise the clouds for their performance. Faster and faster she spun until her wobbly legs gave out and she fell into a heap upon the ground. Lying there, she laughed so hard she felt as if her sides would split. That was quite lovely she spoke aloud to the clouds, still spinning before her dizzy eyes as she continued to lay there wishing her problems away.
Notes: go with it wherever you want because it's not going in any particular direction

words // 699 // tagged // cassie boy with a coin, T H E N M A K I N G A W I S H , A N D T O S S E D I N T H E S E A For a girl as innocent as Elle, Seraph Graveyard was, perhaps, a rather morbidly odd place for her to be seen in. Especially when she didn't have any dead family -- or really anyone -- ti visit.
But it was nice, to pay respects to the people who lost their lives in the war. And, even though it was sad, she liked to read the engraved words on the graves.
Weird?
Hm, maybe.
But those words, were what people remembered them by. It showed that they were loved, and so desperately missed by the ones they left behind. It was the only living proof left that they were once alive and cared for; and to Elle, dead or not, that was something to deeply cherish.
The girl; dressed prettily in a white dress (she would have worn black to be respectful, but she had read somewhere that white was the true color of death; and, of course, Elle didn't own any black clothes), gazed mournfully at one decaying gravestone, lightly touching the edge with one gentle finger.
CATHERINE WILSON Loving mother, and wife; missed forever in our hearts.
She paused, wondering if the family of Catherine were still alive and well. If she had been Matched, and if so, if her match had coped -- and perhaps, if he had loved her -- with her departure well. Or if she had never been Matched, and her husband was something like her one true love. She wondered which one was more heartbreaking; falling in love with your Match, only to have her so cruelly taken away, or to have fallen in love with someone you had met by fate, only to have fate never wanting her to live for long.
The painfully beautiful face of Noah flickered through her eyes, and she gulped, a blush creeping through. Maybe fate.
But then again, she was biased.
The sky dulled, the sun slowly sinking into the earth; soon it would be dark, and as lovely the words on the graves were, being alone at night in a graveyard was a tad too scary for her liking.
Taking one last look at Catherine Wilson's final home, she took off, using the faint outlines of the nearby ruins as her guide. Another surprise; the girl enjoyed the ruins, too.
It might seem out of character for Elle to like such place, but the Half-breed had her reasons. Hardly anyone went to the ruins, and every once in a while, she liked o be alone with her thoughts. And what may seem ugly to some, in her eyes, the ruins had a unique beauty that no modern building could compare to. It was nostalgic; a reminder of war. The clear warning of what war could destruct.
She neared the ruins, only to stop, eyes blinking with confusion. There, just in the distance, was the silhouette of a girl spinning; arms lifted high into the air as if to embrace the sinking sun. And then, just as quickly as she span, the girl fell, collapsing out of Elle's view.
Panicked, Elle ran towards her, a cape of gold waves flying behind her. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" She yelled, shouting out questions and only stopping when the girl was a few feet away, bending double to catch her breath. Breathing deeply, she closed her eyes, peeking out of one to check the girl was indeed, unhurt.
"Sorry for shouting; um, you fell, and I pan--" Elle stopped herself, noticing the fresh tear tracks on the girl's face. She was crying? So she was hurt? A look of bewilderment spread across her features, her eyes clearly puzzled. "What's wrong?" She asked, before clasping her hand across her mouth. Was that rude? Would she take it as a rude question?
She paused, obviously awkward, before the desire to help kicked back in, and Elle closed the space between them, landing on her knees before the girl, worry clear on her face.
"Are you hurt?" She repeated, "where does it hurt? Where's the pain?" She asked gently, her hurry to help rushing her words, not noticing the girl's drugged smile in her haste. notes // hmm. sorry i didn't give you much to reply to. |

After Cassie collapsed, she heard a girl's voice yelling after her, snapping her out of her drugged delusions. Where does it hurt? Where's the pain? was the last thing she caught. A confused look spread across Cassie's face as she touched her damp cheek, unaware that she had been crying. What? Cassie forced out.
She looked at the girl above her. Her blonde hair was quite dazzling and her white dress was the most beautiful dress Cassie had ever seen. Wow I'm dead aren't I? She thought to herself. Her eyes wandered around her taking in the scenery. Wait, fuck I'm still at the ruins, oh well Embarassed, she sat up sheepishly, realizing she had been on the ground just looking around for quite a while. No, um I'm quite alright I guess. She said to the girl with the worried expression; an expression she had never seen as a child. Slowly Cassie brought her legs up to a better sitting position, considering she had just fallen onto the ground, her body bent into an awkward position.
Umm, I'm Cassie She said slowly, I don't mean to be rude or anything but who are you? Honestly, Cassie was quite stunned that anyone was in the ruins with here, nevermind that the girl was checking to see if she was ok. Cassie had always thought that only she knew that this place was the best place to be alone and just be absorbed by the world. She was also kind of mad she had made a complete and utter fool of herself in front of such a seemingly proper girl. Oh Cassie, you've gone and made a complete muck of things again, she internally scolded herself, What the fuck are we gonna do with you?
Silently, Cassie studied the pretty girl to try and get a feel of how much she had seen and if she knew that Cassie was completely smashed. Cassie rubbed her eyes, trying to pull off the deep redness of her high as a result of her tears. She quickly looked around the girl to make sure that the trash from her stash was hidden again. Sighing with relief, Cassie turned her full attention back to the girl. She held her breath, waiting in reverence, wondering if this maternal-like girl would scold her or report her or just make her feel like complete shit for getting smashed for seemingly no reason and making her worry, to Cassie's amazement.
Note: Sorry, not that much to reply to, next one will be better promise (:

words // 539 // tagged // cassie boy with a coin, T H E N M A K I N G A W I S H , A N D T O S S E D I N T H E S E A "What?" The girl said, sounding somewhat worse than she looked.
Worried, Elle bent down onto her knees, silently looking the girl over to check if she was bruised, or worse, bleeding. She breathed a sigh of relief when her eyes found nothing; maybe it was just a little fall. Elle had been too far away to see properly, after all.
"No, um I'm quite alright I guess." The girl said, and Elle smiled, glad. "That's a relief; I was so worried when I saw you fall like that." She smiled once more, her worry slowly fading. "Umm, I'm Cassie, I don't mean to be rude or anything but who are you?"
The worry she had been feeling disappeared in that very moment, and her usual awkwardness hit her full on like a truck. "Ah, right. Um, well, I'm Elle. Sorry Cassie, I just saw you fall, and I got worried, and I just ran towards you without thinking and, and --" She forced herself to shut up, biting her tongue in order to stop her sudden rambling. Looking suddenly sheepish, Elle offered a small smile. "Sorry," she apologized again, "I'm not usually as.. forward like this." She smiled once more, hoping that Cassie was the type of girl who didn't mind a complete stranger making a big fuss out of what appeared to be nothing.
Elle continued to stare, peering at Cassie's eyes; they were quite beautiful, yet somewhat troubling. There was something so obviously wrong with them, but at the same time, they were mesmerizing.
It clicked.
Weren't the pupils too large? Too dilated?
She paused, wondering whether she should comment, or not. They looked beautiful, but it also meant that something was wrong, didn't it? That something wasn't quite right? Biting her lip, she frowned, brows furrowing in concentration. What did she know about dilated pupils? She briefly closed her eyes, attempting to remember those cloudy memories of high school, and those somewhat boring lessons of science.
She sighed; it was pointless. Her memory never was brilliant, and it was no surprise that it had failed her again. She might as well ask.
Fidgeting around, she avoided looking at Cassie's gaze directly, summoning up the courage to just ask, point blank. "Um, Cassie?" She began, "Are you sure you're alright? It's just that -- well, it's just that your eyes are sort of.. You know." She attempted to smile comfortingly, just failing by an inch. "Well, they're quite dilated. And i don't think that's normal."
She sucked in a breath, waiting for her response. Was she too rude? What if this was some sort of medical problem that she had no idea about -- it was possible, wasn't it? And what if Cassie was insecure about it? Then Elle would have just pointed it, right?
Frowning once more, she shook her head. "A-Actually, you don't have to answer, you know, if you don't want to." She mumbled, "I didn't mean to be rude, I'm sorry." She dug her fingers into the fleshy parts of her hand, silently wondering why she was incapable of having normal conversations. notes // your post was fine! ^^ <3 |

The girl sighed and relief replaced her worried expression as Cassie assured her she was perfectly fine. That's a relief; I was so worried when I saw you fall like that. she told Cassie as a smile reached her lips and then slowly faded. Umm, I'm Cassie. Cassie told her, breaking the weird silence. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but who are you? She asked the beautiful blonde girl who had so eagerly come to her aid and had nearly scared Cassie to death. Ah, right. Um, well, I'm Elle. The pretty girl responded kind of awkwardly. Sorry Cassie, I just saw you fall, and I got worried, and I just ran towards you without thinking, and--- Elle blurted out, her words running together.
Cassie had a hard time keeping up, her head still foggy from the drugs. A confused look spread across her face as Elle blabbered on, her awkwardness showing through. Sorry. Elle said, which made Cassie wipe the confused look from her face, not wanting to offend the girl. I'm not usually as, forward like this. Cassie giggled to herself, trying to imagine what Elle was like normally. But, Cassie liked Elle, she seemed like the type of girl who would overlook Cassie's neglegence of her well-being and just take her at face value...or so she thought.
The mood suddenly shifted as it became clear to Cassie that Elle was obviously nervous about something. Yet again, a curious expression graced Cassie's face as Elle figited, getting up the nerve to say something. Um, Cassie? She began, trying not to sound too rude or too concerned, Are you sure that you're alright? It's just that --- well, it's just that your eyes are sort of, you know. She said, unable to form a coherent sentance. Well, they're quite dialated, and I don't think that's normal. Cassie sucked in a sharp breath. Fuck, she noticed, what am I going to do? She thought to herself.
Cassie's eyes grew wide at the realization that her drug abuse might finally be found out. But, isn't that what she wanted all these years? Why she openly partied and acted so care free all the time just so she could find some one who would care? Still, she feared what Elle would do, not knowing completely who she was exactly. A-Actually, you don't have to answer, you know if you don't want to. Elle started up again, allowing for Cassie to relax a little. I didn't mean to be rude, I'm sorry. Elle's words lingered in Cassie's ears. Now she knew she owed this kind stranger an explination, but first a question.
Do you judge people? Cassie asked as straight-forward as she could, searching for an answer in Elle's lowered eyes. I'm honest to the gods sick and tired of being judged. I just want to be normal, you know? Cassie's eyes teared up and became fuller as she went on her rant. I mean, all my life I've been judged for the stupidest things and it's not like I have anyone to turn to. It's just --- I'm tired, just so fucking tired of it all. Sometimes I just need to escape and I don't need some fucker judging me for whatever the hell I choose to do. She suddenly fell silent, the strength feuling her anger suddenly gone. She was crying now, the silent sobs shaking her body as warm liquid streamed down her face, blurring her vision. I-I'm so sorry. She managed to say in between sniffles and hiccups, I'm sorry.
