{ we all remember the past }
The first thing you need to know about Aidan is his parents. His parents were both officers of the law, and it goes back through his heritage. His great grandparents fought in the wars against the Shades, though his parents never begrudged shades and were very big on equality for all, they want to make life easier, not harder. They met at work, his parents that is, and were partners. The department frowned on it but they didn't let that stop them from falling in love. Being both Angelli, they used their ability to change their appearance slightly to keep their coworkers from noticing as they dated. Eventually they were outed, and given a choice. They were told they would be split up as partners if they continued dating so they found a loophole. They married.
Needless to say that pissed their bosses off, but there was no rule against being married, just against dating, there was nothing they could do. Aidan's older brother James was born just a few years later, and his parents were thrilled. And perhaps it was a testament to how much they loved each other, but Aidan was born just over 9 months later. They were practically raised like twins and they looked similar enough that many people mistook them for such. They had the similar mindset as well, being that their parents were slightly strict in how they were raised.
They were always an atheltic family, going for runs on Saturday mornings together rather than sitting around watching cartoons. Aidan worked hard for everything he got. He had chores, he had responsibilities even from a young age. But he was more sensitive than his older brother, so when his father tended to bark orders without thinking, it was his mother that comforted him and took him into her lap to read him stories. She was tough too, she had to be, but she never was mean. She taught much gentler than his father. She was also always honest, which is where Aidan probably picked it up.
He didn't have the most extraordinary childhood aside from being much stronger and more physical than most of the other children he went to school with. He always brought home good grades as well. He was a good kid and he was close to his mother.
Which was probably what made his mother's death when he was just ten years old tough to deal with. She was out on a check over at Umbra, when it happened. She was jumped by a bunch of extremists that didn't like Angelli's one bit and it got too physical, when she fell unconscious they panicked and ran showing that they were really kids underneath it. It changed Aidan. It made him resent Shades for taking his mother, but it was a quiet anger unlike his brother and father's. They went a little crazy and mad and home life was never good.
It was tense.
He tried to appease his father and kept working towards being a cop like the rest of his family, but he never found joy in it. James was doing it to avenge their mother, which Aidan could understand. He instead put his passion towards performing and dance. Though, being a quieter nature, he wasn't sure how to tell his father that was what he wanted.
For years he went to training in Mitchell theater rather than going to training in the police academy. He was only caught when James went to see him to get lunch togehter and didn't see him there. Aidan told James what was going on and James actually surprised him by supporting him. He didn't believe it was the right thing to do, but Aidan was his baby brother. He even went with him to tell their father. And when his father kicked him out for disgracing the family name, James let him stay at his place instead. And he went on performing and doing well at it. His father never approved and refused to see his shows, and would not speak to Aidan when they all gathered at his mother's grave to pay their respects to the woman they all loved.
He refused to speak to Aidan even when he was on his death bed. It made Aidan a bit sour towards relationships and finds it hard to trust because his trust in his father was so betrayed. He remains close to his brother James even though he moved out an stays in an apartment with other Angelli performers in Chiaro. Now he's just trying to get past the guilt that never saying goodbye to his father brings him and become a better performer.
